pecio 2.0.1 released

I'm happy to release pecio 2.0.1. Approximately one month ago I released the first version - 2.0 - but since then many modifications have been done on pecio. This includes bug fixes, improvements and new features.

These features and/or improvements are new in version 2.0.1:

  • More possibilities for plugins to integrate into the system. But there is still work do be done for the future.
  • Automatic installation of plugins which need one.
  • Update system which automatically detects if the installed version is newer or older than the uploaded files.
  • RSS-Feeds for the whole blog, the categories and the tags.
  • Some kind of an overview on the start screen after logging in. There will be more work on this in the future. Any ideas what else I can put on that start screen?
  • Some bug fixes

I have also worked on code documentation (finished the first folder and all its files). The file header (license, version, etc.) is included in all files.

There now is an installation guide. If any errors occur, just contact me.

Overall I hope I'm able to give you a simple but great content management system :)

Nice.
Looks very good.
Plugins did load effortlessly.

Admin area is so helpful. Pretty easy to navigate.
The layout is very simple and visual pleasing.
Only one thing that I would question and that is the use of the word, "Article." Seems like "Page" would be better. But that's just rhetorical.

As for suggestions for the Admin Start Screen....
*Maybe one of those Visitors/Users counters.
I usually use Counter_Text_Eng, by Philipp von der Born --- http://www.vonderborn.com

*Maybe a site last edited/last changed date for the administrator.

*How about a quick access box to your uploads, photos and audio/video that sorts looks like a gallery?

Again many thanks.

Pecio was already good. You look like you are leaving no stone unturned. This CMS will be awesome.

Peace.

I'm glad that you like the new version :)

I thought "Article" was better than "Page" because often people put articles into their pages. But you're right that this can be confusing for people who think an "Article" is a Blogpost.

A visitor counter on the start screen is a great idea. But it seems the license of the counter you've linked is a bit too restricted, but I will contact the maintainer and look what I can do.

The last edit date is imo not very helpful, but perhaps the last changed articles, last changed posts and last changed texts. That may be a helpful feature.

The quickaccess to uploads can also be useful. But this is a bit complicated to realize since there also are sub directories in the upload folder. But I will look for some simple open source file managers.

Thanks for the quick response.

I like the last changed articles, posts and texts idea.

In terms of file managers, take a look at...

navphp file manager:

krishanadmin:

Sorry about the counter issues. I know that I like counters. But I also realized that a more detailed website stats plugin in the Admin Start Screen might be more appealing to some users. Whereas a counter could be used for either the admin page or even a public page.

Below are some links to other counters and web stat scripts.

Counter/Stats

PHP Web Stat:
http://www.php-web-statistik.de/
Has a more detailed wewbsite statiscical view as well as a counter.

Piwik: the next generation of phpMyVisites an open source alternative to Google:

Thanks.

I've been toying with the templates and I've been looking through the old documentation for some hints. I see that I can do quite a bit, but the $template_meta["id"]
in template_meta.inc.php appears to be a mystery.

Any help with how that works?

Thanks.

$template_meta["id"] is just some kind of an unique phrase. When I finish template documentation I'll add a hash generator to the homepage.

Oh and thanks for the links to some counter/filemanager. Some of them look quite nice.

Thanks for the help on the $template_meta["id"]. I see that basically, I can create my one id using any combination of letters and numbers.

Noticed something else....The Blogposts per Page & Blog on Start on the Admin/Settings Page, could be helpful if repeated on the Admin/Blogposts page.

thanks again.

How about adding the current template to the Admin Start Screen?

Would help when you're editing templates.

Thanks.

Good idea with the current template on the admin start screen and blogposts per page/blog on start on the blogposts management page.

Thanks :)
