pecio 2.0.5 released

It's been a long time, but today I'm happy to announce the release of pecio 2.0.5 which comes with some nice new features and improvements:

  • hierarchial menupoint order in the administration
  • file/directory-permission check before and after the installation
  • filemanager accessible outside of the editor
  • new default height for the editor
  • updated to the latest CKEditor (version 3.3.1)
  • email notification option for new comments on blog posts
  • "disable comments"-option for single posts
  • "blog on start"-option is now also accessible via the blogposts area
  • template chooser for articles is back again :)
  • little bug fix in slug generation
  • further code documentation
  • perhaps some more little things I don't remember

I'm sorry that you had to wait so long for this release but there are a lot of other projects I'm working on, that's sometimes a bit difficult to coordinate ;) However I hope you feel comfortable with all those new features and improvements!

There are also two new Plugins that you can download:

  • PHP Code - for inclusion of php code into articles/posts/texts
    • please note that it's a bit tricky to use this inside the CKEditor. But if you're turning into the "Source" mode of the editor, everything should be fine
  • Pecio URLs - can be used to insert urls of articles/posts/categories/etc. into your content

The administration area of the contact form plugin has a little issue with the stylesheet at the moment, but I think I'll fix that soon.

Please also note that, if you are updating from a previous version of pecio, this version will make changes to pecio's database table layout, so do not forget to backup your database and your pecio installation! To make the update you just have to follow the update guide.

I hope that I can set up a wiki with some tutorials for template and plugin development etc. very soon. Some more templates are also planned.

pecio 2.0.2 released

Today I'm releasing version 2.0.2 of pecio cms. I had not much time to work on it but nevertheless there are some new and useful features and improvements. So here they are:

  • The setting "Blogposts per Page" is now also accessible on the blogpost-administration page
  • I've implemented the visitor counter of Philipp von der Born (Link)
    • Statistics are displayed on the administration overview screen
  • There now is a permalink to the article/post you're currently editing
  • Plugins can now add additional localization files to the CMS
  • Markus has created a german translation for the CMS which is added by default
  • I've replaced a lot of CSS3 style definitions with images because of bad performance in some browsers (e.g. Firefox)
    • Further I polished the design of the administration interface

Just take a look at the demo (Username: admin - Password: demo123) or at the screenshots.

Because of the new plugin localization feature I've also added a german translation to the contactform plugin (which is not anymore compatible with 2.0.1).

To install the CMS, follow the installation guide. If you already have an older version installed, follow the update guide.

I hope that all of you will be happy with this release :) If any errors occur, please contact me via the contactform on this site.

pecio 2.0.1 released

I'm happy to release pecio 2.0.1. Approximately one month ago I released the first version - 2.0 - but since then many modifications have been done on pecio. This includes bug fixes, improvements and new features.

These features and/or improvements are new in version 2.0.1:

  • More possibilities for plugins to integrate into the system. But there is still work do be done for the future.
  • Automatic installation of plugins which need one.
  • Update system which automatically detects if the installed version is newer or older than the uploaded files.
  • RSS-Feeds for the whole blog, the categories and the tags.
  • Some kind of an overview on the start screen after logging in. There will be more work on this in the future. Any ideas what else I can put on that start screen?
  • Some bug fixes

I have also worked on code documentation (finished the first folder and all its files). The file header (license, version, etc.) is included in all files.

There now is an installation guide. If any errors occur, just contact me.

Overall I hope I'm able to give you a simple but great content management system :)

Welcome to the new website for the totally new pecio cms!

Today, on christmas, I'm happy that I'm able to release pecio 2.0 which is completely rewritten, nearly completely object-oriented and much more flexible than the old one.

Here are some of the new features of this version:

  • Multiple articles and the blog can be assigned to the home page
  • Multiple categories and tags can be assigned to a blogpost
  • Subtitle, description and tags for the website (will be displayed as meta elements in the head-section of the template)
  • Three types of URLs: Default (using IDs) - Human (using Slugs) - Rewrite (using Slugs and Apache mod_rewrite)
  • Sidebartexts- and links can be assigned to more than one article
  • More divided user permissions
  • Localization is done using XML-files
  • New WYSIWYG-Editor: CKEditor instead of TinyMCE
  • New and more consistent admin area design, based nearly completely on CSS3 and using the great Frutiger font (» how to get this legally for free)

But at the moment it also still lacks a certain features of the old one:

  • RSS-Feed
  • Download Counter
  • DIfferent templates for each articles

All the old templates and plugins also still need to be rewritten for pecio 2.0. But all those missing features will be implemented in future releases. Some other new features are also in planning stage:

  • Ping- and Trackbacks
  • RSS-Feeds also for categories, tags and archives

If you have more features that you would like to see in future versions, just leave a comment!

Update:

I just forgot some things to mention:

  1. I've put CMS generated HTML Text (e.g. the menu, sidebar texts, ...) into template files, so that it's easier for you to change the layout of those elements.
  2. Plugins now have more possibilities to integrate into the system. So they inherit the PecAbstractPlugin Class which provides the database object, the session object, the settings object, the plugin's meta data and the current site view (such as article, blog, blogcategory, blogtag, blogarchive, ...). It also has the ability to give some data for the -Section of the website.

Complete rewrite

pecio cms 2.0 is a completely rewritten and improved version.

Plugins...

...old versions of pecio are not compatible with pecio 2.0.

But check out the plugins for the new version!

Donate one euro

Is pecio cms worth a euro?

I'd be happy for a donation!
